I was surprised to discover that Florida only has FIVE cohos in the whole state, and three of them are still in development. I would think that with a high population of retirees, that the cohousing concept would be more popular. Also, isn't it kind of expensive to live there? Yet another reason to look at cohousing as an option, I would think. Why hasn't the concept taken root there?
And then you've got states like Washington, Oregon and California that are teeming with cohos.
What gives? Is it ease of approval, philosophical buy in, widespread support?
