Does anyone in the cohousing community get involved in local gleaning efforts?
Many gleaning organizations allow pickers to keep a healthy proportion of what they pick, as well as donating to hunger missions. It seems like it would be a great way to bring in produce for community events and dinners while contributing to the broader "community".
Here is a photo of what we picked this last weekend for donations--over 600 pounds of food from just one garden--heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, peppers, yellow beets, cabbage. All harvested by 3 people in just 1 hour.
